Broadband as a Service Catalyst (Phase II and III)

As part of TM Forum's Catalyst program, the Broadband as a Service Catalyst standardizes how wholesale broadband is sold, ordered and kept healthy between communication service providers (CSPs) and wholesalers. Building on the Wholesale Fiber Broadband Standardization Catalyst (Phase I), the work has continued through Phase II, the future of wholesale broadband ordering, and Phase III, the future of service assurance.

Alvatross joined this initiative in 2023 to support seamless integration, lower costs, and a simpler entry for new market players. In 2026, Alvatross contributes the Service Inventory component to the service assurance phase, built on its Unified Inventory and TM Forum Open APIs.

Together with Germany's FIT (Fixnet Interfaces go TM Forum) initiative, these industry efforts are helping to establish common standards and interoperable architectures across the telecommunications ecosystem. The same standards are already implemented and in production at EWE Tel, whose adoption of TM Forum's Open Digital Architecture (ODA) demonstrates how CSPs can collaborate through plug-and-play architectures, accelerating service innovation and improving responsiveness to market demands.
