On January 27 and 28, Alvatross will take part in the European Space Conference, one of Europe’s leading forums for strategic debate on the present and future of the space sector. The event will be held in Brussels, the epicenter of decision-making on European industrial and technological policy.

A key meeting point for the connectivity of the future

The event will bring together representatives from the European Commission DG DEFIS, key industry players, and members of the SpaceRISE consortium, among others.

Over the course of the conference, fundamental issues for the coming years will be addressed, such as:

  • The design of the EU’s next Multiannual Financial Framework (2028–2034) for space.
  • Initiatives linked to defense, security, and technological sovereignty.
  • New financing models and public–private collaboration.

Our participation in this event is a great opportunity to continue contributing to an essential debate for the future of the European ecosystem: how to effectively connect terrestrial and satellite technologies through open standards, automation, and scalable operating models.

The convergence of terrestrial and satellite domains

For years, the focus of the space sector has been on infrastructure: satellites, constellations, orbital capacity. However, as services evolve and become more complex, the center of gravity is shifting toward the ground segment. Operating end-to-end connectivity services that integrate terrestrial and satellite technologies has become one of the industry’s greatest challenges.

The convergence of these two worlds requires more than technical interoperability. It demands common operating models, automated processes, and open standards that enable multiple stakeholders to collaborate seamlessly.

Alvatross’ experience in Satcom

At Alvatross, we have been addressing this challenge for years from a practical perspective. Our experience in the satellite industry has been validated through real projects and recognized by the ecosystem itself.

A clear example is our participation in TM Forum Catalyst initiatives, where Alvatross has been a winner for two consecutive years with Satcom-focused projects. These Catalysts have demonstrated that TM Forum standards and Open Digital Architecture (ODA) can be successfully applied beyond traditional telecommunications.

Far from being an exception, these cases confirm a fundamental idea: open standards do not belong to a specific industry, but to operating models that aim to scale.

With more than six years of experience and the backing of over 35 years of telecommunications expertise through the Satec Group, Alvatross was founded with a clear vision: to be an agnostic, flexible, standards-based solution capable of adapting to different technological environments and business models.

Our digital platform, cloud-native and aligned with TM Forum and its ODA, enables unified management of the entire service lifecycle—from ordering to activation and network operations. This capability is especially relevant in hybrid scenarios, where terrestrial and satellite connectivity must be integrated coherently, without duplicating systems or processes, while maintaining an end-to-end business view.

The path toward a de facto solution

These international initiatives show that the success of secure connectivity in Europe depends not only on space infrastructure, but also on how services are managed and operated from the ground. Coordination among multiple stakeholders, the need to deliver a consistent experience, and the pressure to reduce provisioning times make it essential to rely on mature, interoperable solutions aligned with international standards.

At Alvatross, we firmly believe that the connectivity of the future will be hybrid by definition—a model in which the user does not perceive whether the service is delivered via a terrestrial or satellite network, while the operator relies on a solid operational foundation to manage that complexity. Our platform acts as an operational bridge between both worlds, facilitating convergence and enabling new service models.
